Training Your Pet Contributes to Everyone’s Happiness

Without question, having a pet adds great joy and pleasure to our lives. We love their loyalty and personalities and value their companionship as much as they do ours. However, to gain the most out of your relationship with your pet, it’s important to teach your cat or dog behaviors that will ensure his or her safety and enhance your everyday lives.

At Shelden Vet, we’re happy to help you teach your dog basic commands such as “sit” or “stay.” We also provide guidance with common behavioral needs such as housebreaking, litter box training, and territory marking.

For more information about training your cat or dog, we’ve created handouts on the following topics that can be found on our Education page:

  • Chewing
  • Dog training
  • Feline litter box training
  • Housebreaking
  • Territory marking

For more advanced behavioral training (specifically for dogs), our team can also make referrals to trainers in the area. Remember, most obedience trainers can teach a pet the basics with only a couple lessons. What takes the most effort is teaching owners how to work with their dogs. Therefore, it’s important to choose someone you like and trust.

For your convenience, we’ve compiled a list of local trainers (PDF) who have had positive feedback from other clients. For more information about training your cat or dog, don’t hesitate to ask us during your next visit.
